Welcome to our neighborhood!

You have found it – an enchanted place to live and play, and we want to welcome you to our neighborhood! We have approximately 120 property owners on Interlachen Lane, Blue Lake Road, and Lachenview, around both Blue and Fairview Lakes.

Our homeowner’s association is Interlachen, Inc. First incorporated in 1930, we are probably the oldest continuously operating homeowner’s association in the state. We would like to invite you to become a member of our active and congenial group. The association maintains Welsh Park on the Fairview Lake side, an easement to provide access to Blue Lake, and services not covered by other governments, including road repairs and street lighting along the oldest portion of Interlachen Lane.

On the social side, we sponsor picnics, potlucks, garage sales, art shows, band concerts, breakfasts, Easter egg hunts, Christmas caroling and decoration contests, Santa visits, open-house tours, and other fun activities for the young and young-at-heart. We also work with various law enforcement agencies and personnel to ensure a high degree of safety and security in the neighborhood. We watch out for each other. Getting involved with our Social Committee is an excellent way to get acquainted.

Welsh Park is a private community park for social gatherings. It has two children’s play structures, a basketball court, a volleyball play area, a covered gazebo, and a boat/swimming dock on Fairview Lake. Home owners on the Blue Lake side can use power boats for skiing and other aquatic sports. Blue Lake Park, a beautiful County park across Blue Lake from our association, hosts triathlons and other events of interest. Fairview Lake is home to the infamous 4th of July decorated boat parades, mid-lake floating parties on party boats, end of summer brings a lighted boat parade, and numerous water sport activities as well!

Our community boasts a quality of life that is second to none in our area and we need your help and membership to maintain this special place! We have a volunteer board of governors, elected during our annual meeting every April. They manage our infrastructure and oversee committees and act as your spokesperson representing our community on issues and developments affecting the quality of our lives. Interlachen is a non-partisan entity but we are extremely well respected by our elected officials of Metro, Multnomah County and the State of Oregon.

Currently the annual Interlachen Inc. association fee is $250, which is used for road maintenance, park maintenance, street lighting, insurance, and various other community and social activities. All board members’ time and labor is donated The dues are set and approved by association members during our annual meeting in April of each year. In addition, beginning this year, members living on the Blue Lake side will be assessed an additional $50/year to cover the cost of lake fills, water quality and legal defense of our traditional rights to have power boats on the lake. We have a negotiated agreement with Metro to share the cost of the water purchased. Interlachen Inc. also is responsible for registering power boats on Blue Lake and establishing and enforcing safe boating rules.

Our fiscal year runs from March 1 through the end of February. You must be paid to be “in good standing” to vote at our annual meeting. Our mailing address is Interlachen Inc., PO Box 96, Fairview, OR 97024.

The Governing Board meets approximately monthly. Visitors are welcome. Also, register your email address at our website www.interlachen-hoa.org for updates, announcements, future board meeting times, events, community highlights, history, by-laws and a contact list for any questions or concerns in our community

Again, Welcome Neighbor. We hope you meet your new neighbors soon, participate and enjoy living on the lakes!

On the night of New Years Day, our paddleboat apparantly blew off our dock. We searched for it but have been unable to find it. Our friends and family have really enjoyed the paddleboat so we would like to find it. It is blue and white and may be floating upside down. If you see it, please call Bill Buss at 503-667-3166. Thank you.
