Reading and Approval of the Minutes:
Allen will post the approved minutes for August, 2014 on the Interlachen, Inc. website.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND COMMISSIONERS:
PRESIDENT, Allen Johnson:
Because representatives from Metro and Blue Lake management were unable to attend the board meeting, the board accepted a motion to table all six topics until the October board meeting. Topics include Blue Lake water fills, boating rules enforcement, weed treatment on Blue Lake, and other park business.
Allen reported that communication between Metro and Interlachen, Inc. regarding closures of Blue Lake activities have been good this summer.
Jim Park, the manager of events at the Lake House, contacted Allen following a complaint of loud music on September 6th. Mr. Park was cooperative and had the music turned down. He also made sure that there was no noise disturbance after10 pm. He wanted to apologize to residents and asked for the name of the homeowner contact so he could apologize directly to them. He said he would purchase a decibel measurement tool to monitor sound levels for future events. We thank you, Mr. Park, for your kind consideration.
See: “Old Business” below for more reports from the president.
VICE PRESIDENT, Don Jacobson:
Don presented a process for establishing boating rules and enforcement protocols for Blue Lake residents. It was suggested that a form be distributed to Blue Lake homeowners asking for their feedback on potential changes to boating rules prior to the Interlachen, Inc. annual meeting.
FLPOA/IWPUD LIAISON COMMISSIONER, Bob Torheim:
Bob had no new reports. Both organizations will have board meetings later in September.
TREASURER, Roger Keast:
Roger presented the current budget. Check numbers 1306 through 1309 were approved by the board.
ROADS AND PARKS COMMISSIONER, Tom Burns:
Tom reported that Emek Golan donated two Japanese maple trees for Welsh Park. Our thanks to Emek for the beautiful trees.
Yuval Golan rebuilt several planters and installed flagstone at Welsh Park.
See: “Old Business” for more on road repairs and park maintenance.
BLUE LAKE COMMISSIONER, Steve Nelson:
MEMBERSHIP COMMISSIONER, Ted Smits:
Ted and his wife, Cathie, have signed up four new members. Good job, folks. We have reached our goal of 90 members for 2014.
SOCIAL COMMITTEE, Erika Teyema:
No new events planned for now. We are glad to see that the park is being well utilized for activities by members this year.
A. Troutdale Energy Center (TEC) update: Little progress to report.
The next telephone hearing is on October 1st, 2014.
B. Blue Lake Water Fills: No reports.
C. Road Repairs: Homeowners’ driveways continue to be paved and the
Eastern end of Interlachen Lane will be closed to everything except
emergency vehicles on Saturday, September 20, 2014. A flyer will be
distributed to all homes. There will be a notices of the closure on the
Interlachen, Inc. website and the bulletin board. Tom will contact Debbie
Weaver to print signs for the sandwich boards on the perimeters of the
It is unclear who is responsible for the section of road on Interlachen
Lane past Lachenview. Tom will attempt to establish if that is a city
of Fairview road or not.
D. Flyer for Blue Lake: Allen still intends to compose a bulletin similar
to the one distributed to Fairview Lake residents.
E. Park Reservations: The Knights had a great reunion on Sept. 7th.
F. Missing Tables/tents: Allen and Erika said the tables are no longer
missing. The tent that was damaged is the wind is still to be replaced.
G. Committee on Boat Rules: See Don Jacobson’s report above under
H. Pedro’s Licensing Documentation: Tom said that Pedro has not
presented the required documents (license and insurance) and; thus,
has not been paid for September. Pedro was informed by Tom that the
board could not approve payment without documentation because we
are a civic organization bound by rules. The board agreed that
services will have to be terminated in the absence of proper
documentation and a new person hired for park maintenance.
There has been an alarming increase in thefts in the neighborhood. A reminder to residents to take precautions will be posted on the website by Allen.
We learned that there is a problem in that emails are not being sent out to all members. Allen will contact Joe Hartman to resolve the issue.
THE NEXT BOARD MEETING WILL BE HELD ON
MONDAY, OCTOBER 20TH, 2014, AT THE LAKE HOUSE
AT BLUE LAKE PARK AT 7:00 PM.
SEE YOU THERE.
