Meeting Called to Order: 7:05 pm

Reading and Approval of the Minutes:
Allen will post the approved minutes for June on the Interlachen, Inc. website.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND COMMISSIONERS:
PRESIDENT, Allen Johnson:
Allen stated that it appears the Troutdale Energy Center (TEC) and concerned parties are close to a settlement, with the next meeting to be held in August. Allen will make contact with City of Portland
officials regarding well depths due to potential impacts of water usage by the TEC.
Allen is eager to compose a bulletin with news and events for Interlachen members.

VICE PRESIDENT, Don Jacobson:
No report.

FLPOA/IWPUD LIAISON COMMISSIONER, Bob Torheim:
No new information on PUD. Bob was unable to attend the FLPOA meeting and has no report.

TREASURER, Roger Keast:
Roger reviewed the budget and stated we now have 85 paid members and 18 members have paid boating fees for Blue Lake use. Checks 1287-1295 were approved by the board.

ROADS AND PARKS COMMISSIONER, Tom Burns:
Tom does not as yet have an estimate for road repairs and expects to have one by next Monday. Tom plans to install solar panels in the easement and more plants.

BLUE LAKE COMMISSIONER, Steve Nelson:
Steve stated that he was mistaken about the milfoil. They are the usual weeds which will likely clear up soon.

The lock is missing on the bollard on Blue Lake. Steve will purchase a new lock.

The “No Skiing” red flag on Blue Lake was not used on the 4th of July, and many members felt it should have been displayed. Steve said that the vendor on the lake is in charge of putting up the flag as needed.

After another discussion on waters fills, it was suggested that Steve Nelson form a committee to develop a protocol regarding fills. As of now, the board maintained that we don’t have enough information to determine when we have reached the need for a water fill of Blue Lake.

Neighbors continue to be concerned about certain boating practices on Blue Lake. Don Jacobson will chair a committee to review the boat rules and propose changes to the current rules. Members will then vote to enact new rules or not. Once the rules are established, it was suggested that Steve contact Metro in order to determine how our authority of enforcement can be increased.

MEMBERSHIP COMMISSIONER, Ted Smits:
One new member.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE, Erika Teyema:
Erika reported that the pancake breakfast was a big success. Thanks to all who volunteered their time and skills.

We are looking forward to the International Picnic at Welsh Park on July 17th.
The Interlachen garage sale will take place the first weekend in August.

On August 10th, Sue Ellen Dolan will host a fundraiser, “Strong Harvest
Inernational,” from 11:30 am-3:00pm. Welsh Park is reserved for the event.
See the Interlachen, Inc., website for more information.

New Business:

  • The Knights have reserved Welsh Park for Sept. 7th, 2014, from 11 am
    to 3 pm.
  • It appears that one tent and chairs are missing from the park. Erika will
    pursue their reappearance.
  • A request from BLIA for $1000 for weed control was approved.
  • FLPOA will use Welsh Park for a sailing demonstration on July 13th at 1:00 pm.
  • A request was made for Interlachen to purchase a trailer. The board
determined that a trailer would not be a good use of association funds.
  • A member’s suggestion to make Interlachen a gated community was
discussed, and there was no interest in pursuing the installation.
  • Allen will compose and deliver notifications to two homes on Interlachen
to clean up their front yards.
  • An incident on the 4h of July on Blue Lake was discussed. The party in question was not cited, and there were no injuries.

THE NEXT BOARD MEETING WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, AUGUST 11th, 2014, AT THE HOME OF ALLEN JOHNSON AT 6:00 PM.
THIS IS A POT LUCK, AND SPOUSES ARE INVITED.
