REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND COMMISSIONERS:
PRESIDENT, Allen Johnson:
HAPPY RETIREMENT! We wish Allen all the best.
Allen will post an announcement for the August 10th fundraiser (see social committee notes below for more details).
The Troutdale Energy Center continues to be opposed by some groups.
The Friends of the Columbia Gorge want more stringent air pollution controls, and the next meeting is on July 7, 2014.
The Interlachen, Inc., website now posts the names and contact information on all board members for 2014.
VICE PRESIDENT, Don Jacobson:
FLPOA/IWPUD LIAISON COMMISSIONER, Bob Torheim:
TREASURER, Roger Keast:
Roger reported that we are behind in association dues. We have 74 or 75 -paid members and need 90 members to make budget. He has emailed neighbors who paid last year but not this year. Several agreed to pay. Roger will coordinate with Ted to increase membership.
ROADS AND PARKS COMMISSIONER, Tom Burns:
Tom reported that delaying road repairs could lead to more expense later. He will meet with William Stanley of William Stanley and Sons tomorrow (June 3, 2014) to obtain a bid, and Tom will pursue more bids. The projected amount to be spent is approximately $10,000. Tom will discuss the opportunity to coordinate the repairs at discounts to neighbors who need asphalt work on their properties.
The price for an extension wall on the easement is $508.50 plus labor costs of $300-$500. Tom will coordinate the work.
BLUE LAKE COMMISSIONER, Steve Nelson:
Milfoil has returned to Blue Lake. The weavils are gone as their food supply ended.
A protocol regarding fills, with Steve Nelson as committee chair, will be initiated. An invitation needs to be extended to Mel Rieff to serve on the committee.
Board members noted that revisions to the Blue Lake rules proposed at the 2014 annual meeting were not approved by members. Allen suggested that Steve meet with Blue Lake residents to review the rules from 2013, with the goal of reaching an agreement on acceptable boating practices. Changes require a quarum, and proxies can be signed by non-attendants.
Tom Burns suggested that Steve contact Metro to discuss giving Interlachen, Inc. more authority to enforce rules on Blue Lake. As of now, our only authority is to deny a sticker to boat owners.
MEMBERSHIP COMMISSIONER, Ted Smits:
SOCIAL COMMITTEE, Erika Teyema:
Erika was unable to attend the meeting. She provided a social committee report via email. Upcoming events: Friday Frolic, June 13th at 6:00 pm at the Knight home (21143 NE Interlachen); Pancake Breakfast, June 21st from 9 to 11 am at Welsh Park–to volunteer, contact Betty Keast;
