Meeting called to order.
A motion was made to accept the minutes of the April board meeting. It was seconded and passed unanimously.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Lance Pattock
Lance discussed the possibility of Nick Kahl attending the July picnic. He is running for the state representative position and has canvassed Interlachen Lane. After discussion, it was decided he can attend and mingle.
VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Roger Keast
Roger is working with the webmaster to update the Interlachen website and add a login for board members for things like master lists. He also reminded membership of the closing of Marine Drive for the 4th of July fireworks.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Mel Rieff
Recent account activity was distributed. The current account balance is $28,428.00. There is also around $10,000 in a CD that will mature in September.
Blue Lake Commissioner – Jeff Townsend
Jeff reminded all membership that there should be no skiing/wakeboarding after sundown. Boat lights also should be put on after the sun sets. There was some discussion regarding boats going to far into the lake ends. Curt Knight purchased a buoy from Craigslist. Erika Teyema made a motion to buy the buoy from Curt to put into the lake. The motion was seconded by Jeff Townsend and passed unanimously. Weeds in the west end of the lake appear to be gone except for patches in the middle…yeah!!!
Roads and Parks – Curt Knight
Speed bumps have been painted and storage area building has been started. New tables were purchased. There was some discussion of building some railroad tie steps into the park in the gravel area.
Membership – Sue Myers
Current membership is at 104.
FLPOA/IWPUD – Allen Johnson
There has been no recent FLPOA meeting. IWPUD met June 16th. Water quality is excellent. Curt Knight has been told to go ahead with paving as new line is a long way off. Water lines will be flushed this month. PUD will look into painting fire hydrants.
Social – Betianne Goetz
The pancake breakfast was a great success. Over 140 people attended. The next picnic is Thursday, July 31st – Western Americana Theme where the Mighty Filberts will perform and Linda Ferris will talk about the new Lewis and Clark monument by architect Maya Lin. The August picnic (Thursday, August 28th) will be chaired by Dianna Gould. The theme will be 50’s Rock and Roll. Resident Greg Whitehead’s band will perform.
The Interlachen garage sale is scheduled for Friday, Aug 1st (for residents and neighbors only) and Saturday, August 2nd.
The social committee will be meeting next Thursday, July 10, to discuss future plans.
A by-laws committee needs to be organized. There are still a few things left on the table from the annual meeting of 2007. Boat rules also need to be reviewed. Blue Lake Water Quality meeting minutes have been emailed and are available.
Wakeboard tournament results seem to be acceptable. The water looks good so far. There was some damage to a few docks and Bob Doughty was contacted. The west buoy line wasn’t always adhered to by boat drivers. We received quick response to our complaints, however, next year we hope to not have to constantly monitor this. The 1080 contest upset several homeowners. If boats had been moored in that area (luckily there were all on lifts), there would have been damage to expensive boats, not just the docks. Finally, the length of the tournament needs to be addressed next year.
We have lost/are losing several long time residents and want to recognize these members and bid them farewell. Ruth Mahin, Phyllis and Vern Sowers, Art and Mary Lou Laws, Mike and Pauline Morrow….we wish you the very best. The next meeting will be Sunday, August 3, 2008 at 4pm at the Gazebo.
